2006年9月17日中午，位于天安门广场中心的组合喷泉水池开始进行第一次试喷。
中心花坛名为“万众一心”，直径60米，中心水池直径30米，主喷高38米，
独立水型达25种。炎炎烈日下，工人们正在紧张调整水柱的高矮，
以迎接国庆的到来。

9月12日，游客从天安门广场西侧搭建的“布达拉宫”景观前走过。
目前，天安门广场摆花工程主体结构初具规模，
整个摆花工程预计在9月25日左右全部完成。
今年广场摆花预计使用50万盆鲜花和树木。
天安门广场东侧的画卷花坛主题为《吉祥福娃一路欢歌迎奥运》，
广场中部是《万众一心》中心花坛，广场西侧的画卷花坛是以青藏铁路
、布达拉宫和三峡大坝为主景的《山清水秀九州新貌展宏图》。

9月18日中午12点，北京天安门广场的施工人员开始安装福娃“晶晶”，
经过6个小时的连续作战，到傍晚18点，最后一个福娃“妮妮”就位。
“五福娃”成为此次国庆摆花工程又一亮点。
庆祝中华人民共和国成立五十七周年!!!
