ClamWin最让人不解的问题是：没有“访问前检查”功能。也就是说，它只给有充分的安全自觉性的用户使用：每下载一个文件，就要手动扫描一下再使用。当然，这也是它占用资源极少的根本原因。另外，ClamWin没有真正意义上的“杀毒”功能，对于染毒文件，它是“难言之瘾，一删了之”，当然，也可以隔离。这个特点大概与它原本是一个邮件扫描模块有关。
